20 years ago today I put on a short-sleeved purple shirt, enhanced the “cool” look with a purple tie and started my first day as an intern. My confidence took a hit when the first colleague said “here comes the bus driver”…but I recovered and enjoyed 9 awesome months with Arthur Andersen, Stern Stewart and Deutsche Bank.
Over the next 20 years I learnt from great leaders and observed empty-suit managers. I saw smart ideas get killed in internal politics, survived useless all-nighters, and have fond memories of team celebrations. I entered banking during the 2000s bull market, sat back-to-back with a true NYC trading legend during the GFC and more than once told myself “what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger” during the 2010s.
So many things I would love to tell my 21-year old self.
To allow current students to learn&laugh about my “rookie mistakes”, We have organized a Zoom session with two students from Goethe University and Frankfurt School.
You can “ask me anything” as long as it is loosely connected to finance, career choices or basketball.
You can submit your questions in advance. The very best question will win a prize. But of course you can ask your questions during the session.

We hope to see you there
